SONS
of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION
The National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution is a proud organization of about 33,000 active male descendants of those patriots who, during the American Revolution, rendered unwavering loyal service to the cause of winning our freedom from England.
Any man shall be eligible for membership in this Society who, being of the age of eighteen years or over and a citizen of good repute in the community, is the lineal descendant of an ancestor who was at all times unfailing in loyalty to, and rendered active service in, the cause of American independence, either as an officer, soldier, seaman, marine, militiaman or minute man, in the armed forces of the Continental Congress, or any of the several Colonies or States; or as a signer of the Declaration of Independence; or as a member of a Committee of Safety or Correspondence; or as a member of any Continental, Provincial, or Colonial Congress or Legislature; or as a recognized patriot who performed actual service by overt acts of resistance to the authority of Great Britain.

The Caloosa Chapter is continuing to grow as we welcome new members. We all share a desire to honor our Patriot Ancestors and to learn more about the generations of our families who have contributed in so many ways to make America a nation admired by freedom-loving peoples of the world. Compatriot Trae Zipperer, seen here with his wife Rhoda, was inducted at our December 2018 meeting as the lineal descendant of David Alderman who served as a soldier in the NC Militia.
Sometimes a family affair

Any male over the age of eighteen may file the appropriate lineage and patriotic service documentation to apply for Regular SAR membership. Sometimes these are children or grandchildren (or brothers or nephews) of SAR or DAR members. As such, they may often use the record copy of their relative(s) along with their own birth certificate to establish their eligibility.

When more than one family member applies at the same time using the same patriot ancestor, the application fees are discounted by $50 for the second and each successive applicant.

Junior SAR members are under eighteen and have the same application process as regular members. Their dues are only $5.00/year and on reaching their 18th birthday they may convert to regular membership at no cost. One of our newest, and definitely our youngest, Junior Member is Douglas Harold “Harry” Parker IV. Compatriot Douglas Harold “Trey” Parker III and mom Devon helped him with his induction.
